Is this for you?

Do you struggle with vaginismus or painful penetrative sex*?

You’re not alone! 1 in 5 vulva-owners experience difficulty or discomfort with penetration.

Painful Sex

Dyspareunia, or painful penetrative sex can be superficial, where the pain is limited to the vulva or vaginal entrance. It can also be deep, extending into deeper parts of the vagina or lower pelvis.

Painful sex can be triggered by many different things, such as hormonal changes, infections, emotional issues or other co-existing conditions e.g. endometriosis.

Vaginismus

Vaginismus is a psychosexual condition that involves a chronically tense pelvic floor.

When penetration of any kind is attempted, or when it’s attempted during specific situations such as sex, the pelvic floor muscles involuntarily tense up in anticipation of pain.

This reflex makes insertion challenging or impossible and potentially distressing.
